Vivian Chhetri

Viv grew up in New Delhi, India and is a Gurkha of Nepalese ethnicity. He began playing competitive tennis at age eight. His playing career has been both national and international. He represented India in the 1999 Asian School Games in the Under-19 Division and won a bronze medal. In 2002, while he attended and played for Washington College, the NCAA selected him for First-Team All-Conference Singles Freshmen, as well as, NCAA Rookie of the year. He then attended and played for the University of West Florida's men's tennis team for three years, helping the team reach #1 in the country multiple years.

Viv has 16 years of coaching experience with players of various skill levels and age groups. His coaching career began with high level juniors while working at two prestigious country clubs in Boston, MA; Winchester and Brae Burn. This experience lent him the opportunity to manage a corporate company called, Five Seasons Sports Club, in Chicago, IL. This club had eight indoor and eight outdoor courts and consisted of around 1000 family members. His program at Five Seasons created numerous national level players and champions and contributed to numerous college scholarship awards as a result of his mentoring. His responsibilities included; league play management, organizing junior adult tournaments, programming, budgeting and marketing.

In 2013, he moved to Atlanta, GA to partner with Silvia Tennis and became the Vice President of one of the most successful tennis management companies in Atlanta, managing four facilities (Crooked Creek, Seven Oaks, Cambridge and Sugar Mill). He had direct oversight of 20 pros, 50 ALTAs and 30 USTA adult teams.

Shortly thereafter, he joined the USTA Regional Training Center located at Lifetime Fitness in Norcross, GA and was promoted to Director of Tennis. There, he managed a $40 million facility with 8 indoor, 24 outdoor and 2 paddle courts. He managed staff that worked tirelessly with 21 ALTA teams and 12 USTA teams, 600 hundred juniors in various summer camps and 150 high performance players year-round, successfully organizing and running 50 USTA junior tournaments, ITF grade 4 tournaments and a 60K challenger event. His tennis programs became one of the most respected in the country aiding in more than 100 Division 1 scholarships from SEC colleges and Ivy league schools. Additionally, players from this program had multiple national and ITF junior titles and alumni from the Academy have been awarded multiple college accolades from runner-up in the National Championship to All- American, as well as, multiple conference championships.

Viv was selected to represent the U.S. as a national coach in various international tournaments. He has always strived to instill the philosophy of coaching whereby the players are empowered to make difficult decisions themselves in order to strengthen their confidence mentally and physically. He believes that if a student relies solely on their coach to make sound decisions, then the coach has failed to teach the player how to compete effectively.

After working in the corporate tennis arena for over 10 years, Viv decided he wanted to create and run a tennis club where maximizing a player’s potential is the TOP PRIORITY, not growing profit!  A club that puts an emphasis on having fun and creating an ideal learning environment for its members. Why? Because tennis runs in his blood and he is motivated to teach this beautiful sport to those who are just as passionate about it as he is, along with the help of his partner, Will Phillips, and their amazing skilled staff.  Viv’s vision is to infuse a superb family oriented experience at Windward Lake Club.

In his free time, Viv loves hiking with his two dogs, golfing and going to concerts.
